Dear Friends and Fellow Voters,

So many of you called, sent emails or posted to my Facebook about the election. I thank you for your warm thoughts.  I believe most of us would agree, it was NOT a loss. For a political newcomer to get into a runoff election and achieve almost 40% of the vote in the runoff are great accomplishments. I needed 12% of my opponent’s votes for a victory. We fell short, but there’s always tomorrow.

I have no regrets. There is little I would have changed. I learned from the campaign trail it is YOU the voter that is of the greatest importance, not the special interest groups or the wealthy few. In the coming months, we will be reaching out to community organizations, neighborhood associations and concerned residents like you. We must collectively continue our work together, not just in District 7, but across all of Fort Worth and North Texas to ensure our voices are heard.

I wish both our new mayor, Betsy Price and new District 7 Councilman, Dennis Shingleton great success. They promised to listen to all of the voters and to that we shall hold the entire council accountable.

Sunday and Monday were my first two days off in over three months working 16 to 18 hour days, seven days a week. During the campaign, these words from Theodore Roosevelt gave me energy when I had none. They gave me vision when the road wasn’t always clear. They gave me tenacity when I felt I could use time off.

“It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood, who strives valiantly; who errs and comes short again and again; because there is not effort without error and shortcomings; but who does actually strive to do the deed; who knows the great enthusiasm, the great devotion, who spends himself in a worthy cause, who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement and who at the worst, if he fails, at least he fails while daring greatly. So that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who know neither victory nor defeat.”

    Hello Jon,
    I hope you get elected and your first action will be to remove the bottle neck that costs more than 5 minutes of congestion at rush hours when driving south on Chapel Creek to get on I-30. Until the major lane addition is done, a right turn ONLY lane could be established for everyone going west on I-30 by mearly painting lanes. If all the right turners were passed through, the wait could be reduced by a couple of minutes saving gas and cutting polution.
    Just needs some leadership and a \can do\ attitude. What do you say?
